Church and Training Day

Today’s update was written by Louise, Riley, and Claire

Our mission team started our day with an inspiring visit to Antigua, enjoying an early morning service at Vida Real. We learned about walking with God, and how our souls are filled with the light of Jesus. We experienced a church in a different culture, seeing how the entire service was in Spanish. We were given translator radios, however many people chose to use their Spanish skills and listen to the service live.

Afterwards, the group headed to an astonishing, open air restaurant, El Tenedor del Cerro. We enjoyed a flavorful buffet accompanied by marvelous views of vast wildflowers and mountains. The team was emerged in a multitude of intriguing and meaningful conversations, topped off with rich Guatemalan coffee. The restaurant had numerous art pieces and beautiful plant life dispersed across the property, some reflecting the plants from Georgia, while others were from completely different places in the world. The vibrant scenery, lively music, and incredible cultural artwork truly gave us a shared, authentic experience, permanently tinting our views of this blessed country, and it’s only our first full day here.

Later this afternoon we’ll receive training from Dr. Hermann Alb and prepare for our first clinic day tomorrow. Thanks for the comments and your continued prayers!

  1. Hi, Team Jesus! It’s Copeland’s crazy old grandmother, Pal, sending love! You were each designed specifically for such a time as this. That should blow your mind! Think about the ancestry that got you to today! That took a lot of timing and work by God. Good thing He never slumbers or sleeps, huh? Every single word you say, every thing you do were all designed just for this trip. I learn so much every time you go! I put myself in “mission mode.” I even look at what I’m mindful of, trying to make my minutes here in Georgia count for the Lord, too. Find a way to remember your moments. Think like Mary did when she delivered Jesus in a dim cave-like place. The Bible says “Mary pondered these things in her heart.” She took mental pictures, she listened with alert ears, she absorbed everything into her soul and was able to repeat little details of what happened on her “mission trip” in order to encourage others and give praise to what God did for her (and for us)! If you have given your life to follow Christ, Mary’s very same God lives inside of you today! He places us in circumstances that cause us to need Him. Asking Him for help delights Him! We pray for you and can’t wait to read and hear your “only God” stories! We’re on “God Time” so have a GREAT time!! GT=GT! Thank you for sacrificing in order to be right where you are! Personal note to my oldest of nine grandchildren: Copeland I love you more than you’ll ever know, I’m bursting with joy 🥰 You continue to make me want to live fearlessly for the Lord!

  2. Evening Team – we are proud of your availability to be used by God and love and serve others. The food picks from Sunday looked great. Fresh Fruit….awesome. We shared the blog address with some key folks, who are monitoring your day to day progress. Thank you for keeping us posted and for the great photos and stories.

May you find His rest this evening and walk in His joy tomorrow and you look after those in need and medical attention.

Love and grace from Georgia –
