Antigua

Hey guys, it’s Will! Vance tells me that I have a lot of work to do to make this post as good as his was, so let’s hop right into it!

Today was our first day without a clinic, and while it was a nice change of pace, it was sad to not be ministering to the native people here. One of my most favorite experiences from the last few days was being able to see God changing people’s hearts, and it was unfortunate to not be involved in that today. On the other hand, today might not have been as powerful as the other days, but it was certainly still a great bonding experience with – most – of the team. Unfortunately yesterday Mrs. Ami (group mom / literally the most crucial part of our team) woke up feeling pretty badly sick and unfortunately has been in bed since then. If you guys could pray for her health with us that would be amazing. Mrs. Ami if you’re reading this we miss you and hope you get better quickly!!

Today occurred in a few notable events:

* The bus rides (driver)

* The market

* McDonalds (Trust me)

Let’s start at the beginning!

Bus Rides (Driver)

I cannot possibly stress how freaking amazing our driver was, but I’ll try my best: Emmanuel was THE GREATEST DRIVER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. He was executing these insane maneuvers with literally less than an inch of space on every side and he would just casually do it while like on his phone or something. And get this: THE BUS WAS A MANUAL. I couldn’t drive a manual to save my life.

Lil’ side note – Guatemalan motorists have ZERO chill. It feels like they deliberately teach aggressive driving. Motorcyclists were splitting lanes left and right, cars were forcing their way into lanes, it was quite honestly absurd. I assume this is due to a lack of police competence and an inability to enforce traffic laws but that’s a topic for another day –

Bottom line Emmanuel is the greatest driver of all time and I’m very grateful for him.

The Market

So today we went to the market, a place where all the local shopkeepers congregate and sell their goods. We split up into groups, each with one adult and one translator. My group was the best because we had Juan (translator) and he is the best. We also had Kaala (adult) and she’s pretty okay so that made it good as well. We went through all the shops as a group and haggled like senior citizens for stuff we could get for under five bucks online. Nothing super notable about this but it was pretty funny how Vance got ripped off by an old lady!

McDonalds (I was surprised too)

I forward this by saying I hate McDonald’s with passion. Their food is created in a lab, the fries are soggy, and the stupid ice cream machine doesn’t work. Today’s experience has limited my worldview to only hating on American McDonalds. The Mickey D’s we went to was equivalent to fine dining in America. There was a beautiful garden in the back, and the entire group was served in like ten minutes. The food was amazing and there was a cute cat that kept jumping on the table next to us, so I now will only go to McDonalds if that McDonalds is in another country. Good job McD’s!

In conclusion:

Today was very eye opening into how other countries operate and it was a ton of fun! I loved being able to hang with the crew and build relationships with the translators. A few quick prayer requests: Ami (who is feeling under the weather), safe travels, health, and steadfast faith. Thank you for all the sweet comments and support we’ve been receiving over our socials. Mom, Cooper, and Maggie I love you all and can’t wait to see you again! Yes Cooper I got you something.

Thanks for reading,

Will Langmack

  6. The time has gone so quickly for some. I know how it feels to be ill away from home. It’s the ultimate in Home Sickness. Mrs. Ami, YOU are in many prayers! Prayers for safe travel and a smooth transition at airports are being prayed, too! Is there anyone you met on this trip you’ll never forget? God did that and it’s a true gift. What about someone in your church missions group? You now have a bond like no other, not-to-mention a lot of laughs and tears. Did you get to experience the MIRACLE of someone coming to Christ? Did it take you back to when you asked Jesus for His ultimate and forever forgiveness? We should wake up each day saying, “Thank You, Lord, that I ever got to hear Your about Your Good News! I was blown away that your bus driver’s name translates to “God With Us!” Jesus (Emmanuel) can clear any corner or narrow street in your life! Allow us to love on you with a cozy bed, good food and toilet paper that doesn’t feel like you’re gonna get splinters!! You have had us on our knees where we needed to be, thank you. Copeland, I hope the GREEN TEAM has been your favorite so far 🥰 I love you all. Now come home. Love, Copeland’s Pal

    • Nice update, Will. We are so happy to hear that it has been an impactful week. We are so glad that Samuel and Vance are part of your team and can’t wait to be with them in person to hear lots of details about the people your team loved on and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ. Prayers for your sick leader and for all of your travels safely to the USA.

  7. Gina and Rowan we are so incredibly proud of you both. You listen to a calling to do something so impactful and so great and meaningful beyond yourselves, led by a greater calling. You are an inspiration. It is remarkable all variables that could have stood against you to make this possible and yet you made it possible, as always. The lives that you and incredible group of people have changed in the short will never ever be forgotten. Lots of love, Amber and Nicky.
