Third Clinic Day and Sunday

Saturday

On Saturday our clinic was in Chuiquel, which is located in the mountains. The cool weather and the scenery was a welcome change. We were surprised to find out that the church we were serving, Iglesia Centroamericano Monte Horeb, was the first church we visited on our trip last year, and some of the team members and church members remembered each other

Our students noted the cultural differences between the people of Chuiquel and the other places we served. As students had conversations, prayed over people, and filled prescriptions they also noticed that these people faced a different set of medical, economic, and family challenges. Some of the stories were heavy for all of us, but we also experienced real joy in our time with the villagers and their children. During our evening debrief we spent time processing what we had seen and heard, and looking forward to a day of rest and worship on Sunday.

Sunday

We traveled to Antigua to attend a satellite campus of Vida Real, a multi-campus, evangelical church in Guatemala. We worshipped in English and Spanish, were welcomed warmly, and heard a surprising but powerful sermon from one of the pastors of the church.

We had an amazing brunch at El Tenedor Del Cerro and spent some time enjoying the views of Antigua and some amazing art and gardens. The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying some well deserved rest and fun as we prepare for our last clinic day on Monday.

Thank you so much for your comments and continued prayers for the team. Please pray for our health and for the hearts of our students, who are coming face-to-face with heavy issues. They have been outstanding leaders and ministers this week, and we’re excited to see them finish strong.
