Today our team served at Iglesia Jesús Es el Camino in Chichimecas, where we held our busiest clinic so far with nearly 70 patients seeing a doctor. It was also the hottest day of the trip, but that didn’t stop our team from remain focused and joyful throughout. There were so many babies and children who came with their families, and Riley and Kiley were able to spend the day serving with them. We were treated to a delicious lunch of homemade soup with chicken, rice, and vegetables, along with fresh corn tortillas.
Throughout the day, we heard many powerful stories at the counseling stations. Some were encouraging and full of hope, while others were heavy and difficult to hear. Below, a few of our students share their reflections and experiences from the day.
From David Bustos:
Being at the stations felt so powerful. Watching many people show their faith in Christ was astonishing. Watching this man who was blind fall on his knees to the Lord brought tears to my eyes. I felt his pain and his longing for Gods forgiveness and for God to heal him. I felt like I had my own battles and struggles that I needed to heal for, and sins I need to be forgiven for. Being at the station praying with the group felt so awesome and I could feel the Holy Spirit in the room with us. God really is good.
From Joelle:
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to serve at a sharing station on my own, stepping into unfamiliar territory. I was paired with Emily, who translated for me throughout the day. Together, we prayed with seven different groups of people, each carrying their own unique hardships.
One conversation that stood out was with a mother holding her newborn baby, wrapped in a blue blanket (pictured below). She was still dealing with complications from the birth, but what weighed most heavily on her heart was the distance she felt from God and the church. Whether that distance came from hurt, lack of time, or other challenges, she deeply longed to feel God’s arms wrapped around her and her child.
Emily spoke with such compassion, and we both saw this mother open her heart to Jesus. It was an emotional homecoming. I’m incredibly grateful for the privilege of praying for so many people and for the way God gave me the words to speak life and hope into their stories.
A verse that has meant a lot to me this week is Galatians 2:20: “…I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Earthly things are temporary, but God is infinite!

David, we’re so proud of you and happy you are able to serve the Lord this way!!!
